Guardians of Samhain
Farewell, young Summer. Make way for darker half As we appease spirits with slaughtered calf Let’s feast and gather near bonfire’s cleansing power Our guises protect from Autumnal Fae’s hour <i>Aos sí</> dance with us. By masks, their faces hidden Rev’rent, yet fearless, our offerings are given Should these gifts be received, food and drink taken Autumn’s court vows mercy when Winter waken With Fae come old kin, souls released at first gloam Unless remembered, their feet will ever roam So make space for them at both table and fire And dance with their memories ‘round waning pyre Before embers fade, we harvest the flame And bring them to rest in hearths all the same With powers of darkness and blight now made thin Rest well my fellow Guardians of Samhain
